Pacific Coast TV will be filming Fog Fest in it's entirety all weekend long. It will be available for online streaming on our website HERE from 9:45 AM to 6 PM on Saturday September 26nd and 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Sunday September 27th. You can also watch on your television from those times as well if you live in Pacifica at Comcast Ch 26 or Comcast Ch 27 Coastside.

Later in October, we will be compiling all of our footage into a special all about Fog Fest 2015. The date for that premiere is to be determined.

Ever since I was a kid, I've dreamed of working behind the scenes on television shows and movies. During my senior year of high school, I decided to take a film class at night to learn more about the career I've been interested in for a while. While walking through the hallway one day before class, I noticed a bright green flyer reading "TV Production Interns Wanted". I immediately took a photo of the flyer and called to set up an interview the next day.

Long story short, I got the internship! I started working twice a week at PCT and learning new skills taught by Jason Francisco, the operations manager. I learned how to properly operate a camera, during a live shoot and a taped shoot. I brushed up on my Photoshop and Final Cut pro skills since I had access to the programs on my free time when I wasn't working. I was also able to produce my own show for my Senior Capstone project with the other interns.

 Overall, I truly enjoyed my semester internship with PCT. I learned to apply the terms that I had to study for my Film Study and Appreciation class to practice and it has made my film classes at College of San Mateo much easier. It solidified my dream of working in the film industry and has given me experience for when I transfer to a film school in Los Angeles. Most importantly, I've gained a newfound appreciation for the city of Pacifica. I never knew how important PEG channels were to a community and it make happy to be a part of something that brings a town together in an age were most people don't even know their neighbors. I've made new friends with the other interns and people of Pacifica.

Eventually in the fall, I started working at PCT as the programming coordinator and it's taught me even more than what I learned as an intern. PCT is a great stepping stone for anyone who's looking to get into the industry and for me, it even gave me a job in a field I love. I'm forever grateful to PCT and the city of Pacifica and look forward to continue my work in television.

Pacific Coast Television's very own intern, Justin Phu, sat down with James Parsons to talk about what it's like at Fog Fest.

Justin Phu: How long have you been volunteering with PCT for Fog Fest?

James Parsons: I've been volunteering at the Fog Fest for 9 years.

Justin Phu: What's your favorite part about Fog Fest?

James Parsons: There's always a lot of entertainment, like all the bands playing, and people watching can be fun as well.

Justin Phu: What is the best part of volunteering for PCT during Fog Fest?

James Parsons: Meeting the entertainers, especially at the South Side since it's easier to talk to them before they go on stage.

Justin Phu: What advice would you give someone volunteering for Fog Fest for the first time?

James Parsons: Always ask Jason or Marty [the supervisors] on what to do and tell them how long you want to volunteer for.

Justin Phu: Which booth do you recommend checking out?

James Parsons: The Sandpit.

Justin Phu: Where would you find more information at Fog Fest?

James Parsons: At the Southside of the festival where the bands are playing has a lot of information.

Justin Phu: Why should people go to Fog Fest?

James Parsons: It started out as "making fun of our fog" but they pick this particular weekend since it's less likely to be foggy so it's great weather for a festival. Artists from as far as LA would come to show their works. It's a nice atmosphere. I recommend you bring cash only, there might not be very many ATMs in the area.

Fog Fest is September 26-27 from 10 AM- 5 PM both days.

The Half Moon Bay Shakespeare Company just performed Shakespeare's final masterpiece, The Tempest, at John L. Carter Park this month!

The story of a man named Prospero who escapes to an abandoned island with his daughter Miranda after learning that his wife cheated on him. As the rightful Duke of Milan, Prospero plots to lure his usurping brother Antonio and the complicit King Alonso of Naples to the island through a terrible Tempest.

The Half Moon Bay Shakespeare Company strives to produce Classic Theatre each summer in the Community of Half Moon Bay, California that is accessible, entertaining, challenging, educational and enlightening for both audiences and players alike.

Have you ever wanted to learn about television production?

Are you a creative, hardworking team player?

Pacific Coast Television is looking for television production interns for the fall semester. PCT Intern work on a number of different projects throughout the semester while gaining experience in the field that's extremely competitive.

Interns learn lighting, audio, and camera work and apply it to real television show productions such as Footprints of Pacifica and Spotlight. They get trained on using Adobe Photoshop and Final Cut.  Interns also get to apply these skills to their own projects with the station and can produce their own show!

The Half Moon Bay Walking Tour Comes to PCT!

Out of all the cities and towns in the coastside, Half Moon Bay has an historic past. Being the first settlement of what is now San Mateo County back in the 1840's, the land grants of the Half Moon Bay area were given to the early Mexican settlers. Soon after, the Gold Rush in 1849 brought in people of various cultures to California and to Half Moon Bay, which helped shaped its colorful and unique history. In addition, many events including the 1906 earthquake left an impact on Half Moon Bay.

The infamous earthquake of 1906 affected many places in the Bay Area, and Half Moon Bay was no exception. Both the Mexican adobes and early American brick buildings in the area were destroyed, but the original wooden structures, dating back in the late 1800s, survived the earthquake and can still be seen by the public today. Overall, this is just one of the main events in Half Moon Bay’s historic past.

In addition to the 1906 earthquake, another event that would affect Half Moon Bay was the Prohibition Era (1920-33). Although production and sales of alcohol was ban during this period, that did not stop bootleggers from smuggling in illegal liquor to Half Moon Bay. In fact, the hidden coves and the fog in the Half Moon Bay area were great advantages for both the local and Canadian bootleggers. The Prohibition Era, along with the 1906 earthquake are just little snippets of the town’s colorful history and there is so much more to it.

Ian Butler Celebrates His 100th Episode!

PCT gives a big congratulations to Ian Butler for producing his 100th show! This special episode of Laugh Locally will be a big reunion party full of laughter and fun as they flash back to all the great memories they've had.

Some of the special guest include Chrissie Collins, who is now a cartoonist, Danny Decchi, a stand up comedian with his own special performance style, and Gomer Hendrix, a comedic guitarist. Even more so, there will been guest appearances and interviews of the original Laugh Locally crew members.

The original Laugh Locally began over 10 years ago but as Ian matured so did his content. He then created a show called Wavelength years later, a topical show, with more serious and mature topics. However, Ian decided to have fun and celebrate his 100th episode with Pacific Coast Television. He will have refreshments for his live studio audience to add along to the excitement.

The 30th annual Fog Fest will be here next month. Fog Fest is a yearly showcase of amazing musicians and local talent to celebrate the city of Pacifica. There will be Arts and Crafts booths as well as Food and Beverages booths throughout the festival. The big parade will begin at 10 AM Saturday morning throughout the south end of Palmetto Ave. Also there's a kids fun zone with carnival games and rides for young children.

However the main attraction to the Fog Fest has got to be the fantastic musical performances. Fog Fest has over 20 performers total in three different stages throughout the festival. There will be space for dancing in front of the stage to be able to enjoy the music up close.

This is a big year for Fog Fest as they have been chosen by the Super Bowl 50 Host Committee to host the 6,000 sq ft "50 Tour". The 8 Super Bowl Lombardi Trophies will be on display with huge media coverage and NFL star appearances.

The latest episode of Footprints of Pacifica is finally here!

 As up and coming small town, Pacifica, just 6 years old, had an idea to reinvent the way Santa would visit the children that holiday season. Santa would fly down to see the kids one windy day in December, to bring Christmas joy and help promote the growing town of Pacifica. However, that very wind would be the one of the twists of fate that kept the Pacifica on its toes as Santa blew away into the ocean and in the path of an unsuspecting surfer named Guy Giedzinski.

Watch Deidra Kennedy, a member of the Pacifica Historical Society, interview Guy Giedzinski about his thrilling rescue in 1963. He'll reveal all the details about the rescue and how it still impacts him to this day.

The legendary festival has come once again to the coast side! Come join the fun as PCT helps celebrate the 24th year of the Arts and Fun Fest.

One big comeback this year is the South Coast Artist Alliance Fine Art Exhibit. This special exhibition showcases local artists and talent from Pescadero and neighboring towns. All goods are made locally and funds will go to the artists themselves. Organizers invite you come check out the exhibit to see the talent and maybe even come home with a new piece to add to your collection. 

The same values that Pescadero held 24 years ago are still in place today. Not only does the Arts and Fun Fest provide a space to promote local art, it also creates  an environment to support local students. Every year the festival donates to the local school programs and gives scholarships to graduating seniors.

No matter if you're wanting to help artists or students, there will always be a way to help out the town of Pescadero at the Arts and Fun Fest!

        Having a loving and supportive environment forms the foundation of a strong community. It was from these ideals, that the Big Wave project came into fruition. Steve and Jamie Barber and Jeff and Valerie Peck decided to accomplish two things: to provide a place in which individuals with developmental disabilities could reach their full potential and to provide local Coast side businesses with the commercial space to thrive and grow.

       The Big Wave Project has been tabled a few times over the years, due to disagreements over details in the plan. Like every proposal, there are pros and cons to the community it's enforced in. The San Mateo County Planning Commission discussed the future of this project on 1/14/15. Don’t worry if you missed it because we have you covered.  The whole meeting will be broadcasted here on Pacific Coast Television!

The New Year is an excellent time to be grateful. One of the best reasons we have to be grateful at PCT is our friends! Over the past year we've cultivated many relationships both new and old!

We wish to say a sincere thanks to all of these friends. This year several friends stepped up and really came through in a big way. Whether it was business sponsors like Terry's Hair Factory, board members like Jo-Lynn Ruedas or political friends like Mike O'Neill, our friends really came through. We also wish to acknowledge Congresswoman Jackie Speier, Senator Jerry Hill and Assembleyman Kevin Mullin, all of whom came through for us as well.

PCT Presents a community forum that was held on October 9, 2013 about the Highway 1 Widening Project. 

This important forum discusses many issues and topics that could present itself due to the highway widening. Community members come together and speak about other options and alternatives that could be done instead of widening just one portion of the highway. Be sure to catch this forum and hear about all the questions, comments, and concerns our community has involving this possible project.
