A structural crack discovered in the concrete walkway has led to the closure of the Pacifica Municipal Pier.
The Pacifica Municipal Pier is a well-known local landmark and popular gathering place for residents and visitors, offering scenic coastal views along the city’s waterfront.
City officials announced the closure after identifying the crack and have restricted public access to the pier. At this time, there is no information available regarding how long the closure will remain in effect.
Community members are encouraged to follow posted closure signs and avoid entering the restricted area while the situation is being evaluated. The closure will remain in place until further notice to help ensure public safety.
Celebrating Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month with PCT
May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. A time to recognize, celebrate, and honor the rich cultures, traditions, histories, and contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities across the United States and here on the Coastside.
At Pacific Coast Television (PCT), we believe storytelling has the power to connect communities and amplify diverse voices. Throughout the month, we celebrate the creativity, resilience, and impact of AAPI individuals whose stories continue to shape our local communities and beyond.
From art and culture to journalism, education, public service, and community leadership, AAPI voices are an essential part of the Bay Area's fabric. This month serves as an opportunity not only to celebrate achievements but also to reflect on the importance of representation, inclusion, and cultural understanding.
We encourage our community to support local AAPI-owned businesses, attend cultural events, learn about AAPI history, and continue uplifting the stories that deserve to be heard.
From all of us at PCT, Happy Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month! 🌺
New Documentary Spotlight: Steal This Story Please
A new documentary, Steal This Story Please, is bringing the story of independent journalism to the big screen. The film highlights the work and impact of Amy Goodman, the longtime host of Democracy Now!, along with the evolution and influence of the show itself. The documentary opened in theaters on April 10th.
For decades, Democracy Now! has been a cornerstone of independent media, offering in-depth reporting and perspectives often overlooked by mainstream outlets. Its commitment to investigative journalism and global coverage has made it one of the most respected news programs in the country.
At PCT, Democracy Now! is more than just a program. It is part of our daily routine. We broadcast the show Monday through Friday at 6:00 PM, as well as weekday mornings at 5:00 AM. It’s how we begin our day and how we close out our evenings: with thoughtful, independent reporting that informs and engages our community.
Our connection to the program runs deep. PCT’s Executive Director (Martin Anaya) is a former producer of Democracy Now!, bringing firsthand experience and insight into the kind of journalism the show represents.
The program’s roots are also tied to 94.1 KPFA in Berkeley, which served as the flagship station for the Pacifica Radio Network. Today, Democracy Now! is carried coast to coast, continuing the long tradition of amplifying independent voices.
Steal This Story Please offers viewers a deeper look at the people and principles behind the program, making it a must-see for anyone interested in journalism, media, and the power of storytelling.
Be sure to catch the documentary in theaters and don’t forget to tune in to Democracy Now! on PCT Ch. 26/27!

At Pacific Coast TV (PCT), we proudly join in this celebration by acknowledging the achievements, resilience, and impact of women across all fields—from media and education to science, leadership, and the arts. Support Local Makers: Pacifica’s Royal Bee Yarn Joins the Bay Area Yarn Crawl
Pacifica’s creative community will have a special reason to celebrate this March as Royal Bee Yarn takes part in the Bay Area Yarn Crawl, happening March 13–22, 2026.
The annual event invites knitters, crocheters, and fiber enthusiasts to explore independent yarn shops across the Bay Area. For Pacifica residents, it’s also a chance to support a beloved local business that has become a hub for creativity and community.
A Creative Hub in Pacifica
Located along Palmetto Avenue, Royal Bee Yarn offers a welcoming space for anyone interested in fiber arts—from longtime knitters to beginners picking up their first skein of yarn.
Inside the shop, visitors will find:
-
A carefully curated selection of high-quality yarns
-
Knitting and crochet tools for all skill levels
-
Project kits and patterns
-
A warm, community-centered environment where makers can connect
Royal Bee Yarn has become known locally not just as a store, but as a gathering place where people share ideas, learn new skills, and celebrate the art of handmade crafts.
What the Bay Area Yarn Crawl Is All About
The Bay Area Yarn Crawl is a 10-day celebration of independent yarn shops across Northern California. Participants visit multiple shops throughout the region, discovering new yarns, meeting fellow makers, and collecting stamps on a bingo-style crawl card.
Completing patterns on the card can earn participants entries into prize drawings filled with yarn, tools, and fiber-related goodies. But for many participants, the real highlight is exploring local yarn shops and meeting the people who keep the craft community thriving.
Why Supporting Local Yarn Shops Matters
Small, independent yarn shops like Royal Bee Yarn play a vital role in keeping fiber arts accessible and vibrant. Unlike large retailers, local yarn stores often provide:
-
Expert advice and personalized help for projects
-
Classes and workshops for new and experienced makers
-
Carefully sourced yarns from independent producers
-
Community spaces where people gather to craft together
Events like the Bay Area Yarn Crawl highlight these businesses and encourage people to shop local while celebrating creativity.
Stop By During the Crawl
If you’re in Pacifica—or exploring the Coastside during the crawl—Royal Bee Yarn is a perfect stop. Whether you’re looking for inspiration for your next project or simply curious about the world of fiber arts, the shop offers a welcoming place to start.

- Item # 7 (Public Hearing) SEE VIDEO HERE
- Item Name: 650 cape Breton Drive: A consideration of Rezoning and General Plan Amendment for the property located near Sweeney Ridge to accommodate construction by a church group (often referred to locally in the context of the "Linda Mar" or "Sweeney Ridge" church development).
Residents in the Linda Mar Valley are actively opposing a development project located in the back of the valley, near the Linda Mar Church area. The proposed development has raised alarm bells among community members who argue that the project is too large for the area and presents serious safety risks. The primary concerns include the potential for increased erosion and mudslides due to extensive excavation on steep slopes, which could threaten the safety of surrounding homes.
At 2.23.26 city council meeting, neighbors expressed strong opposition, highlighting that the project is out of proportion with the surrounding neighborhood. Key concerns voiced by the community include:
- Infrastructure: Concerns that the local infrastructure cannot handle the increased density.
- Alternative Options: Residents have urged the city to consider less intrusive, more environmentally responsible alternatives to the current plan.
Honoring Black History Month 🎉

Black History Month is a time not only to reflect, but to recognize, uplift, and amplify Black voices that have shaped our nation, our industries, and our storytelling traditions. From groundbreaking journalists and filmmakers to artists, activists, and innovators, Black creators have continuously pushed boundaries and redefined what is possible in media and beyond.
At PCT, we believe representation matters. Stories matter. And access to platforms that allow authentic voices to be heard matters. We remain committed to supporting inclusive storytelling and creating spaces where diverse perspectives are respected, valued, and shared.
This month and every month, we honor the legacy of those who paved the way, celebrate those making change today, and look ahead to a future driven by equity, creativity, and opportunity.
