For local public safety concerns, the Pacifica Municipal Pier will remain closed until February 14th, 2024. High tides unfortunately damaged a large portion of our beloved pier.
The City's Public Works Engineering Division Works determined that the damage was too detrimental to open any sooner. Stay tuned for more updates as they become avalible!
Recently the Pacifica Historical Society embarked on the huge undertaking of moving one of the historic Ocean Shore rail cars to its permanent home on Fancisco blvd. near the Little Brown Church.
Please watch the above video for all the exciting moments.
The video above will provide some factual information about Pacifica’s Budget, Measure Y, and the upcoming Municipal Election on Nov 8.
This information, and more, is available on the City’s website at cityofpacifica.org
First, some budget information:
•Pacifica has a $47 Million dollar General Fund annual budget that funds most of the city’s day-to-day general services, such as Police, Fire, Public Works, Parks Beaches & Recreation, Planning, and Administration
•86% of this funding is spent on the personnel (65%) or contract services (21%) that provide these day-to-day general services.
•70% of this funding comes from taxes such as property tax, sales tax, hotel tax, utility tax, business license tax, cannabis tax and more
•But as this chart of revenues and expenditures shows, the rising cost of providing general services is currently projected to outpace revenues by approximately $2.7 million dollars per year into the future
•This is known as a structural budget deficit, and presents a financial challenge in sustaining the City’s current level of essential services into the future.
In response to the budget challenges just summarized, and following community input on City priorities, in June the City Council unanimously approved placing Measure Y on the November 8, 2022 ballot to address community priorities such as public safety, jobs and business attraction, and protecting local resources, parks, and beaches, and maintaining fiscal stability by generating locally controlled funding that will stay in Pacifica and cannot be taken by the State.
Here’s the official Measure Y Ballot Question.
In summary, Measure Y, if passed by the voters, would establish a ½ cent sales tax, called a transactions and use tax, and would generate approximately $2.6 million annually for 9 years, for general government use to maintain vital services such as:
Police, fire, medical 911 emergency response, keeping pollution and trash off beaches, attracting and retaining jobs and businesses, street paving, storm drain maintenance to prevent flooding, and preventing coastal erosion. Measure Y funding would be subject to regular financial audits and independent citizens’ oversight.

On July 23, 2022 The 22nd Annual Kahuna Kupuna Surf Contest took place at Linda Mar Beach in Pacifica, CA. The PCT Crew got to interview some incredible people, watch some epic surfing, and document a strong community in harmony and action together.
Watch PCT's coverage of Pacifica's first annual Pride Parade to relive this moment of history.
A pride parade is an outdoor event celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer social and self-acceptance, achievements, legal rights, and pride. The events also at times serve as demonstrations for legal rights such as same-sex marriage.
While pride parades have a long history, 2022 marks the 1st ever Pacifica Pride parade. PCT was there to catch this historic event. Enjoy a look back here.

FROM THE OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER DATED
DATED JANUARY 4rh 2024 (Pacifica, CA) –
The Pacifica Pier will be closed for 3 weeks from January 5th, 2024, to January 26th, 2024.
On December 28, 2023, a combination of high tides and large waves damaged sections of the Pacifica Municipal Pier’s west-facing deck and concrete railing. The City’s Public Works Engineering Division and a structural engineering consultant assessed the damage and determined the Pier is unsafe for users and visitors until a structural assessment can be performed.
An expedited structural assessment of the Pier, development of the analysis, staff review, and finalization of the assessment is expected to be completed by January 25, 2024. Following the assessment, the City will determine if the Pier can be reopened.
Should you have any questions or concerns, you can contact the Department of Public Works Engineering Division at (650) 738-3767 or email engineering@pacifica.gov. Thank you for your cooperation, and your patience while the City works diligently to ensure the Pier is safe and can continue to be an important public amenity.

Robby Bancroft is a promoter, restaurateur, and all-around good guy in Pacifica. Many folks know Robby as a board member and supporter of the PRC, Pacifica Resource Center, which has done so much for coast-side families, particularly since the pandemic.
Robby is also known as a backbone of support for his dad's eatery, Breakers, which serves delicious food fare in the Rockaway Beach neighborhood and has been a godsend for folks looking for a great breakfast without wanting to go over the hill.
But did you know Robby has his own TV show?? Well, he does now! A marketer and promoter for some time, Robby has, from time to time linked up with PCT. Since the pandemic, however, this has been difficult. Well, not anymore!
The realities of pandemic life have forced PCT to come up with some new methods of support for our members. Previously, we'd bring most folks in the studio for most shows. Now we have a brand new method that allows YOU to stay home yet get STUDIO QUALITY results. It actually involves having a PCT staffer as your personal "video engineer", to actually walk you through your TV show/Podcast.
As one of our early adopters, Robby has already been putting this method to good use. In the episode here, Robby welcomes his long-time friend and personal trainer Louis Armstrong (Cool name, huh?) to his show as they talk about getting and staying fit during the pandemic.
Check the PCT schedule for future episodes of Robby's World. Meanwhile, enjoy!
PS: If you want to know how YOU can produce a TV/Radio show or Podcast from home, contact Marty at PCT: 650.355.8001
After a flurry of AAPI (Asian American Pacific islanders) hate-related attacks on a national level in early 2021 Pacifica organizers decided to take action locally.
While there were no recorded attacks in Pacifica, organizers wanted to be certain that our AAPI community felt safe and included in our local family. Further, they wanted to educate our community on the issues related to hate to ensure it doesn't happen here and provide resources for whoever may need them.
Last month PCT covered the Stop AAPI Hate March in Pacifica. PCT interviewed organizer Mary Bier & attendees.
