The latest episode of Footprints of Pacifica is finally here!
As up and coming small town, Pacifica, just 6 years old, had an idea to reinvent the way Santa would visit the children that holiday season. Santa would fly down to see the kids one windy day in December, to bring Christmas joy and help promote the growing town of Pacifica. However, that very wind would be the one of the twists of fate that kept the Pacifica on its toes as Santa blew away into the ocean and in the path of an unsuspecting surfer named Guy Giedzinski.
Watch Deidra Kennedy, a member of the Pacifica Historical Society, interview Guy Giedzinski about his thrilling rescue in 1963. He'll reveal all the details about the rescue and how it still impacts him to this day.
Learn more about Pacifica and reminisce about the beginnings of the town!

The legendary festival has come once again to the coast side! Come join the fun as PCT helps celebrate the 24th year of the Arts and Fun Fest.
One big comeback this year is the South Coast Artist Alliance Fine Art Exhibit. This special exhibition showcases local artists and talent from Pescadero and neighboring towns. All goods are made locally and funds will go to the artists themselves. Organizers invite you come check out the exhibit to see the talent and maybe even come home with a new piece to add to your collection.
The same values that Pescadero held 24 years ago are still in place today. Not only does the Arts and Fun Fest provide a space to promote local art, it also creates an environment to support local students. Every year the festival donates to the local school programs and gives scholarships to graduating seniors.
No matter if you're wanting to help artists or students, there will always be a way to help out the town of Pescadero at the Arts and Fun Fest!
The Festival is on

Pacifica is best known for its weather, surfing and scenery. But what about its local farmers market? Alemany,Lake Merriet and the sunset district all come to mind when I think of good farmers markets. So imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon this tiny, but awesome farmers market ( less than 4 miles away from my house) nestled in Pacifica's Rockaway Beach shopping center.
Walking up to the entrance you are engulfed with the smells of fresh produce, roistering meats, and the sweet smell of baked goods. All the vendors greet you with a big smile and a story to tell about each and everyone of their organic locally traded and made foods. Within 10 minutes of being there, I knew where my strawberries I just bought were grown, who grew them, and what process they used to get them to be so delicious. The farmers market also included a live band, fresh fish, organic vegan sweets and TAMALES!. One more time in case you missed it TAMALES; Freshly made TAMALES!
Pacifica's farmers market is not as big and well known as other farmers market around the bay and peninsula, however that just adds to its charm of being truly local made and supported. So the next time your passing Rockaway beach off of Highway one on a Wednesday afternoon, be sure to stop by Pacifica's farmers market for a little taste of organic locally made food.
Want to know more about whats going on in Pacifica and the peninsula like the local farmers market? Then tune into PCT for an inside look at some of the areas local businesses, community activities and other fun things to do while in the area.
Also a special thanks to la Milpa organic farm ,Roli Roti, Fritter factory and labelGMos.org for participating.
The Fitzgerald Marine Reserve is a beautiful 3 mile stretch of coastland between Point Montara and Pillar Point, in Northern California. A small sign just off Hwy 1 points visitors to the beach in the small town of Montara, about 40 minutes south of San Francisco.
Prized for its low tide pools, its home to a diverse range of intertidal life including sea urchins, hermit crabs, star fish, anemone, and other species. Visitors sometimes get lucky and glimpse a rare, red octopus up close crawling out of the sea across dry land, or gray or humpback whales and dolphins breaching in the distance.
Harbor seals are a big draw. On any given day, two to three hundred seals can be seen resting on the sand as part of their natural habitat. The best time to visit is during zero or negative low tide. Click here for a tide guide.
The reserve is a protected area. The park encourages people to appreciate its natural beauty, but are asked to leave the shells, rocks, driftwood, and animals, etc. undisturbed in their habitat.
Just south of the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve is the Moss Beach Distillery, a California Point of Historical Interest built in 1927. During the Prohibition, it is said to have been an ideal spot for bootleggers and speakeasies.
