Take a bucolic trip back to the 19th century in historic Burleigh Murray Ranch State Park. We’ll amble on an old ranch road alongside Mills Creek to the venerable Mills Dairy Barn.
Built during the 1860s in the style of an English lake country bank barn, the Mills Barn is the only building of its architectural style in California.
This is an easy two mile roundtrip hike. Folks who want a longer hike can continue along the trail to complete a six mile loop.
WHERE TO MEET
We'll assemble in the gravel parking area near the park entrance.
From the junction of CA 1 and CA 92 in San Mateo County, drive south 1.2 miles, then turn east onto Higgins Canyon Road. Drive about 1.5 miles to the park entrance on the left side of the road.
Bring water, snacks, dress in layers, and wear good hiking shoes. There are restrooms near the trailhead along our route. If you have questions about this outing, email Ken Lavin or call him at 415-543-6771 x321.
