Event Description

Join us for the 4th event of our 2018 Take A Hike season!

We will begin at 9 AM at the Sneath Lane Trailhead in San Bruno.

In honor of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Portola Expedition, we have included a hike up to the Portola Discovery Site on Sweeney Ridge as part of our Take A Hike season.

Join San Mateo County Historical Association President Mitch Postel as he leads a hike to the top of Sweeney Ridge. From that hill, Gaspar de Portolá’s expedition became the first Europeans to discover San Francisco Bay in 1769. Wear good walking shoes and bring water. The walk will start at the trailhead at the west end of Sneath Lane in San Bruno.

Difficulty Level: 3.75 miles; Difficult (paved but steep in places)

You must reserve a ticket here to attend the hike as we have limited staff and space to host this event.

Thank you,

San Mateo County Parks Staff
