Esplanade Beach Clean Up

13761608053?profile=originalMeet at the top of the stairs on Esplanade Avenue next to Oceanaire Apartments (100 Esplanade Ave, Pacifica, CA).

Cleanup Areas: We’ll focus on the bluffs, the Coastal Trail parklet to the south,  and the nearby streets, where lots of litter and debris collect before the wind blows it into the ocean. Our goal is to pick it up before that happens! When the trail down to the beach is accessible, we will cover as much of the beach as the tides allow.

Supplies: Volunteers are encouraged to bring their buckets and reusable gloves. Extra gloves and buckets for this site cleanup will be provided while supplies last. Because we are never sure of the weather,  bring extra layers, a hat, sunblock, water, and snacks.

Litter:  Bottles, cans, wrappers, packing straps, cigarette butts, and plenty of debris can be found on Manor and Esplanade Streets above the bluff as well as on the bluff.  Esplanade Beach, when accessible, receives a lot of styrofoam and plastic (huge chunks to micro size) from the ocean. Improperly disposed litter includes bottles, candy wrappers, and dog waste bags.

Be there EVERY 3rd Saturday of the month!

National Night Out

13761612874?profile=original

Porches and police cars alike don their lights as the city of Pacifica prepares for its annual National Night Out, an event promoting safety and community. The event aims to connect local law enforcement with community members, so don’t be alarmed if you see red and blue lights outside your house on Aug.

Pacifica law enforcement invites locals to open their doors between 6:30 and 9 p.m. on Aug. 1 to participate in a citywide block party of sorts, dedicated to uniting neighborhoods with local police departments.

The event will be coordinated by the police department and based on prior registration, which ends July 28. This registration will ensure that all neighborhoods and households are visited throughout the evening. Many communities hold their National Night Out at a central location, but Pacifica will be taking a different approach this year.

The city of Pacifica will not hold an event downtown, but will instead have members of the local police department visit each neighborhood registered for the event. Along with these visits are small presentations regarding issues that community members themselves bring forward prior to the event.

This personalized strategy has yielded the best results for the city of Pacifica, and has kept National Night Out around year after year. The goal of this event is to deepen the bonds between community members in an effort to deter crime, and over National Night Out’s run in the Pacifica community ties have strengthened.

Seeking Fall Interns

8234226065?profile=original

Production Internship

Job Description and General Information

Pacifica Community Television offers internships to those who are interested in an intensive, hands-on training program in television and video production. Prior experience is not required. The internship is unpaid, and there are no fees.

An internship differs from just volunteering at PCT because of the following:

Interns are expected to work sixteen hours a week at the station. Interns are scheduled for a minimum of four regular day shifts a week. These shifts are from 2-6 PM or 6-10PM.

Interns are exempt from membership and workshop fees.

Interns are welcomed and strongly encouraged to take any workshops the station offers:

Audio – Camera – Graphics – Directing – Floor Managing – Lighting –

Remote Location – Technical Directing – Video Roll Operation

Interns may occasionally be asked to help with non-production work at PCT, although their primary duties will be production related.

As with our volunteers, interns are expected to be prompt and work well with their team of production volunteers, staff, and interns. “No shows” and tardies are not acceptable. If an emergency should arise, we expect the intern to contact the station immediately so that their crew position can be filled.

If your internship is through school, PCT is always willing to assist in the necessary paperwork and/or evaluation reports in order for interns to receive credit. PCT’s staff is always willing to answer your questions and concerns; please don’t hesitate to ask!

If you're interested in applying, we accept applications the beginning of every semester, around January/February(Spring), May/June(Summer), and August/September(Fall).

Please call Jasmine Bhan at 650-586-8047 and let him know you're interested.

NO EMAILS.

Watch PCT's coverage of Pacifica's first annual Pride Parade to relive this moment of history.

A pride parade is an outdoor event celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer social and self-acceptance, achievements, legal rights, and pride. The events also at times serve as demonstrations for legal rights such as same-sex marriage.

While pride parades have a long history, 2022 marks the 1st ever Pacifica Pride parade. PCT was there to catch this historic event. Enjoy a look back here.
