For the first time in a decade, the race for the Pacifica School Board is genuinely up for grabs. Ten candidates are vying for four open seats in an election marked by intense public interest following a turbulent year for the district.
To give voters a chance to connect directly with the candidates, the Pacifica Democrats are hosting a public Meet & Greet at the Sharp Park Golf Course Restaurant on Saturday September 19th from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Democratic candidates Grace Sobieski, Christopher Swiedler, Tiffany Button, and Kelly Mendoza will be on hand to share their vision, build rapport with constituents, and rally support ahead of the November 3rd election.
Rather than a formal debate, the forum offers an open dialogue on the district's future. The school board has faced heavy public scrutiny after recent budget decisions forced the closure of two local schools, cut essential courses, eliminated 22 staff positions, and led to the early departure of Superintendent Dr. Darnise Williams. Seeking to restore stability and trust, these four candidates are stepping forward to tackle the challenges head-on and reshape the district’s path forward.
