PCT produced a video on Monday October 5th for Candidates competing for three seats on the Half Moon Bay City Council presented their visions for the coastal community during a public forum at Senior Coastsiders.
Moderated by Chris Johnson, and hosted by Coastside Buzz with support from KHMB and Coastside news, the evening event provided voters a direct look at the contenders shaping the future of Districts 1, 4, and 5 ahead of the upcoming election.
In District 1, incumbent council member Robert Brownstone faced a challenge from Planning Commission Chair David Gorn as the two debated local planning and municipal priorities.
The contest for District 4 brought incumbent Mayor Debbie Ruddock, who brings 24 years of city council experience, alongside challenger Ron Kies, a retired geologist focusing on district-specific issues.
Meanwhile, District 5 features a race between Air Force veteran and labor leader Steven Booker and multigenerational Coastsider Susie Morasci. The two candidates are seeking the open seat left vacant by retiring Vice Mayor Deborah Penrose.
Throughout the evening, contenders across all three races addressed key community issues including housing affordability, coastal resource management, and municipal infrastructure. Community members looking to verify their registration status, confirm district boundaries, or review voting logistics are encouraged to consult official resources through the San Mateo County Registration and Elections Division or the City of Half Moon Bay.
