The annual Big Chillout, a big surfing competition in Pacifica, CA.
On December 20th, Pacific Coast Television wrapped up 2018! Friends and family came out to 580 Crespi Drive to celebrate the year's accomplishments and get excited for 2019. The studio was filled with the smell of Kenny's Chinese Cafe and the sounds of caroling interns, with smiles to be found all around.
Even Santa made an appearance and doled out gifts and praise (and shared a hearty helping of Kenny's). DJ Amanda rocked the night away as we ran through karaoke, charades, and even an ugly sweater contest.
As we recognized several PCT standouts, we also said a very sad goodbye to our good friend Gwen Miller, a steadfast supporter and a member of our board for over a decade. Martin Anaya and Dennis Willis summed up her years with a few heartfelt words, and her contributions will be sorely missed.
Thank you, Gwen, for all you've done for Pacific Coast Television!

The world-famous Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival is the season’s signature event, drawing hordes of visitors to the “World Pumpkin Capital” for an epic festival on historic Main Street. Pacific Coast Television had all hands on the scene, interviewing passersby and giving them a chance to go on live television!
At noon, an exciting parade unfolded as the Half Moon Bay community gathered together to watch marching bands, musicians, and pumpkins move in a procession down Main Street. Talented entertainers kept the crowd enthralled as they enjoyed drinks, music, and the beautiful arts and crafts of the many vendors that frequent Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Fest. If you couldn't make it, don't miss 2019's festivities!

This project is guided by a committee of county, state, federal and tribal representatives which will explore the best ways to design and interpret the path that Gaspar de Portolà took during his expedition of the San Mateo County coast and the San Francisco Bay. This work will include telling the history of the Ohlone people who lived in the area and who were instrumental in supporting the Portolá Expedition in 1769.
On the third Saturday in September California cleans up! California Coastal Cleanup Day welcomes more than 60,000 volunteers who will pick up hundreds of thousands of pounds of trash and recyclables from beaches, lakes, and waterways each year. It brings awareness to the marine litter problem and provides a community event for direct involvement.

Construction is complete, the shelves are filled with a brand new collection of books and a ribbon is waiting to be cut for the grand opening of Half Moon Bay’s new, high-tech library. As it finally opens, a host of festivities await the new building: Rep Jackie Spier was in attendance, celebrating alongside the excited Half Moon Bay community.

Pct was a big winner at the 2018 WAVE awards.
Actually, to be more specific, Brianna Yee-Sandoval was the big winner. Truth is, the station has accumulated many WAVES over the years and really did not submit for many this year. Two we did submit for were for work done by Brianna on our COAST-LIFE show.
And guess what? Yes, she won both. Brianna is one of several up-and-coming talents to watch here at PCT. After a stellar internship in the spring of 2017 we actually hired Bri and now she serves as our primary Half Moon Bay staffer as well as recording meetings and working on our coast life show, bringing news and information about the coastside to coastal residents.
Congrats on your big wins Bri! Looking for more amazing things coming from her. If you wish to get involved, become a member. We'd love to see what you have to offer.
